Inspection and analysis of water quality based on Ramam spectrum and surface tension

Abstract: The room temperature Raman spectra of distilled water ,bottled drinking water and tap water were recorded by laser Raman spectrometer ,and the surface tensions of these samples were measured by pull-out method .The results showed that the Raman spectra of distilled water ,bottled drinking water and tap water were similar in general .However ,distilled water had a smoother and stronger spectrum .While many impurity peaks and burrs appeared in the spectra of tap water and bot-tled drinking water which had lower and broad spectral peaks .The surface tensions of these samples decreased with increasing temperature .The influence of impurities on hydrogen bonds strengthened the clusters of water molecules and decreased the polarizability .Thus the bond vibration energy de-creased and led to lower Raman peak intensity and bigger surface tension .
