Abstract: Effects of different controlled cooling rates on the microstructure of 20G boiler steel were researched by the thermal simulation machine Gleeble-3500,compared with the microstructure of that normalized after rolling. Based on the experimental results, the reasonable controlled rolling technology was obtained to substitute normalizing after rolling. The results show that the microstructure of 20G boiler steel is composed of ferrite and pearlite under different controlled cooling rates. The rapider the cooling rate is,the more the volume content of the pearlite is and the thinner the interlamellar pearlite spacing is. The microstructure and grain size of the sample under 5-10 ℃ / s cooling rates are similar with that of the normalized. The controlled cooling process for 20G boiler steel was determined.
