Abstract: As the pinnacle of Mies’ box construction system built with steel and glass,in Crown Hall,Mies had comprehensively solved the problems left in Farnsworth House.10 by 10 feet square homogeneous grids had integrated every part such as structure, skin and the paving on the surface of selling and floor into a unified and harmonious construction order which almost made the house a perfect box.In addition, through over ten years of constant research and thought,Mies eventually established two kinds of skin construction order depend on different inner structure modes of high-rise and Low-rise buildings. However, the "Edge-expansion" strategy which make skin reach a perfect and homogeneous construction had brought an embarrassing "border breaking" to the edge construction of the flat elements closed the box.
