Study on Solid Powder Zinc Penetration Treatment of 16Mn Steel

Abstract: Solid powder zinc penetration treatment of 16Mn steel was carried out. The microstructure of diffusion layer was observed by metallographic microscope and the micorhardness was tested by microhardness tester. And its composition was observed by scanning electron microscope energy spectrum analyzer. The results show that 79 μm diffusion layer is obtained at diffusion temperature 450 ℃ for 4 h. The temperature selection relates to excess zinc liquid melting point. Sherardizing layer hardness is significantly higher than that of matrix microstructure.
