Research on Microstructure and Performance of Lower-temperature Pack Aluminizing Layer

Abstract: The microstructure and performance of aluminizing layer prepared by mechanical energy aided diffusing was studied. The microstructure and hardness of aluminizing layer were analyzed by XRD and hardness measurer. High temperature oxidation experiment and the surface EIS experiment of aluminizing layer were carried out. The results show that thick film of aluminizing layer can be obtained by mechanical energy aided diffusing at lower temperature and less time. The layers are mainly composed of granular and columnar structure, and the rich carbon layer is found near the base metal. The XRD shows that the phase of the aluminizing layer is mainly Fe2Al5, and its hardness is 750 HV-1000 HV, so it has excellent wear resistance. The aluminizing layer shows excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance properties.
