Effect of Additives on Performance of Micro-arc Oxidation Coating on Aluminum Matrix Composite

Abstract: Micro-arc oxidation treatment of SiC reinforced aluminum matrix composite was carried out in the aluminate solution which was added NaF, C3H8O3, KZrF6 and Ce(NO3)3·6H2O. Morphology of coating was observed and analyzed by SEM; corrosion resistance of coating was evaluated and compared with the polarization curves. The results show that: in the aluminate solution, adding NaF, C3H8O3and introduce Ce elements can improve the density and corrosion resistance of coating. Microstructure of coating has little change after adding KZrF6, but the corrosion resistance of coating increases slightly.
