Abstract: The fracture failure of nitrogen hydrogen gas compressor was investigated by macroscopic and microstructure analysis, chemical composition analysis, SEM fracture analysis, tensile, impact and hardness test. The results show that fracture of crankshaft in the nitrogen hydrogen compressor belongs to high-cycle fatigue fracture. Existence of crack in nitration case external of compressor crankshaft is the main reason that results in the fatigue fracture of crankshaft, while without thermal refining is one of the substantial causes that leads to the decrease of crankshaft fatigue strength.
