Abstract: Currently, there are two types of sodium hypochlorite generators in China, including bipolar and single polarity electrodes, the sodium hypochlorite generator with single polarity electrode is widely used while it with bipolar electrode used less widely. In this paper, the experiment with three factors, including salt water concentration, current density, salt water flow,is designed to study the influence of running effect of sodium hypochlorite generators with different electrodes. The results show that the salt water concentration and the salt water flow have a consistent tendency on the running effect of the single polarity electrode and the bipolar electrode, yet the current density has a slightly different tendency. The running effect of sodium hypochlorite generator with bipolar electrode is much better than it with single polarity electrode. Therefore,it is suggested that sodium hypochlorite generator with bipolar electrode is used in rural water supply projects.
