Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of "Qinggan Huatan Huoxue Decoction " on occludin expression of enterocyte connexin in rats with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis( NASH). Methods: Forty SD rats were randomized into normal group, model group,Essentiale group and"Qinggan Huatan Huoxue Decoction"group( Qinggan group). The models were established by giving high fat diet. Qinggan group and Essentiale group were treated with"Qinggan Huatan Huoxue Decoction" and Essentiale respectively by intragastric administration. Rats were sacrificed at 12 weeks after modeling, the serum and intestinal mucosa samples were kept. The levels of ALT and AST were detected by automatic biochemical analyzer; contents of TNF-α were detected by ABC-ELISA; the pathologic changes of intestinal mucosa were observed by HE staining; the expression of occludin mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. Results: The serum levels of AST,ALT,TNF-α in model group were increased and higher than that of the normal group( P < 0. 01),and the occludin proteins levels of intestinal mucosa samples were decreased and lower than that of the normal group( P < 0. 01); the contents of AST,ALT and TNF-α in Qinggan group were lower than that of the model group( P < 0. 05,P < 0. 01),and the expression of occludin mRNA was higher than that of the model group( P < 0. 01). Conclusion: "Qinggan Huatan Huoxue Decoction "can improve and repair the damaged intestinal mucosa in NASH rats.
