Numerical simulation of cavitation caused by underwater explosion

Abstract: Cavitation can occur in water area near the free surface and structure subjected to underwater shock. A high reloading pressure is generated when the cavitation region collapses. In this paper, the for-mation of cavitation region is analyzed in theory. The evolution and closure of cavitation region are numer-ically simulated by ABAQUS and compared with experimental values. The results show that cavitation can be simulated very well by ABAQUS and the secondary pressure produced in the fluid near the cavitation closure point is proved to be non-ignorable.
