Abstract: "youqi "and "youw ei "are synonymous adverbs in modern chinese that developed from the same adverb "you ". Compared with "you w ei","you qi "has a wider range of syntactic distributions,and its syntactic functions are more flexible. There are some subtle semantic differences: "youqi"is more subjective and prominent,and"youwei"is more objective and determinative. In this paper,statistical methods are used to describe their differences,and explanations are given from the point of view of their different grammaticalization degree. We give their different developing trend at last.
