Abstract: Yangshi Lei family was the master of architecture in the Qing dynasty(1644—1911),who took charge of the imperial architecture design for more than 200 years from Kangxi Reign(1661—1722)to the end of Qing dynasty.Yangshi Lei archives which include twenty thousand drawings models and manuscripts,have been listed by UNESCO on the Memory of the World Register. In view of its great value,when Mr.Zhu Qiqian founded Society for the Study of Chinese Architecture eighty years ago,research on Yangshi Lei archives was one of the three keystones of research on Chinese architectural history,as well as Ying Zao Fa Shi(《营造法式》)in Song dynastyand Official Manual of Constructional Engineering(《工程做法则例》)in Qing dynasty.In order to benefit deeping relevant research,this paper systematically reviews the tough history of research on Yangshi Lei family and archives,learns experiences of how to do researches, furthermore,to honor the 80th anniversary of Yangshi Lei archives collected by National Library of China.
