Research on the yield of Mo of 316L stainless steel smelted by molybdenum oxide in AOD furnace

Abstract: On the basis of the metallurgical thermodynamics on reduction of MoO 3 by C,Si,Mn,Fe and other elements in the liquid steel,molybdenum is alloyed through the molybdenum oxide instead of ferromolybdenum in 110 t AOD furnace. The effects of molybdenum oxide content,various feeding amount and various feeding modes on the molybdenum yield are analyzed. The results show that the molybdenum yield alloying by molybdenum oxide is almost same as ferromolybdenum,the yield is up to 97%; higher CaO content of molybdenum oxide is advantageous to obtain higher molybdenum yield; the molybdenum yield is decreasing with feeding amount increasing at the same feeding modes; the molybdenum oxide being added into AOD furnace with the carbon content of 0. 8% can obtain higher yield at the same feeding amount.
