Reasons and precautions of wall sticking in tubular reactor for LDPE

Abstract: The authors analyzed the causes of wall sticking in the tubular reactor for low density polyethylene (LDPE) and elaborated its precautions and treatment methods. The main reasons of wall sticking include that the reaction temperature curve is not established in time during the beginning of starting up, the relative molecular mass regulator dosage and the setting temperature of the pre-heater outlet are too low, and the raw materials containunsaturated hydrocarbon impurities, etc. The wall sticking can be avoided by taking corresponding measures, but if the wall sticking phenomenon in the reactor is quite serious, the wall sticking can be decreased by producing high melt flow rate LDPE to flush the pipelines and adjusting the temperature and flow of the hot water periodically.
