Abstract: The impacts of the initial conditions of the incident ion,including its incident andle,its injection position,and its initial kinetic energy,on its motion in Fourier transform electrostatic ion trap were physically modeled and analytically evaluated.The calculated results include the optimized initial conditions of the ion,the initial kineticenergy range for the ion acceptance,the dependence of the kineticenergy range on the ion incident angle and injection position.In addition,when it comes to the maximum kinetic energy range for the ion acceptance by the Fourier transform electrostatic ion trap,the realistic possible initial conditions of the incident ions were also discussed in a thought provoking way.
