Abstract: Due to the shortcomings of the traditional points system in selecting and evaluating the training players,we propose an evidential reasoning based approach for the selection and evaluation of ACM / ICPC training players. The proposed approach changes the traditional evaluation from quantitative into qualitative. Practice shows that this new method can effectively deal with the evaluations when information is missing or uncertain and the evaluation results tend to be more reasonable.
