Abstract: The most commonly-used antiviral agents for HBV have been divided into two categories:interferons and nucleos(t)-ide analogues. The former has the limitation of multiple side effects, while the later is characterized by the problem of drug resis-tance. The major problem is that most patients cannot eradicate viruses through long-term antiviral therapies. Therefore, it is impor-tant to develop potent agents against various viral targets for the management of chronic HBV infectious diseases. This review focus-es on the recent progress in viral targets for anti-HBV agents.
