Abstract: Objective:To investigat the changes in nitric oxide ( NO) content and nitric oxide synthase ( NOS) activity in the myocar-dium of renovascular hypertensive rats and explore the effects of Tanshinone ⅡA on protective mechanism of heart .Methods:The renovas-cular hypertension was induced by 2-kidey-2-clip on Wistar rats.Rats were divided into 3 groups:sham-operated group, hyperten-sive group, TSN-treated group.Blood pressure was measured by rat tail baumanometer .Levels of NO and eNOS activity level were meas-ured by colorimetry .Heart tissue sections were stained with HE method .Results:Tanshinone could promote NOS activity and NO content increased myocardial tissue , and may significantly improve the treatment of myocardial hypertrophy and interstitial fibrosis in rats .Conclu-sion:Tanshinone could obviously improve the myocardial hypertrophy and myocardial interstitial fibrosis in HP rats , which may be ex-pressed, and TSN promotes myocardial eNOS protein upregulation of NOS activity and NO production .
