Analysis of Support Functions and Design Principles of Mobile Learning Based on Wechat

Abstract: Wechat, a mobile application software with functions of communication, social interaction and platform architecture,is widely used in college students and has constructed a new mobile learning support environment. Based on a literature review,wechat’s mobile learning support functions are analyzed, including voice and text interaction, wechat group communication, auto reply response, push subscription, and content share. The features of three social media tools(wechat, qq and microblog) are compared and the collaboration between wechat and the other elements of personal learning environment are analyzed. Based on the universal instructional design principles, design principles of wechat mobile learning are discussed from aspects of orientation, function, content,interaction, learning style and web service. Finally, four mobile learning cases based on wechat are analyzed. With the study of support functions and design principles of mobile learning based on wechat, it is expected to provide reference for the research and practice of the related work.
