Abstract: This paper analyzes the dynamic influence relationship between the CPI and the main indirect taxes on the basis of constructing a stable vector autoregressive(VAR) model. The result indicates that indirect taxes are not the main determinants of the CPI fluctuation. The CPI variance decomposition shows that CPI fluctuation is caused mainly by itself. The tax policy plays a limited role in controlling inflation. This round of inflation in China is so complex that it can only be curbed through tightening money supply, enhancing management of demand and supply and so on.
