Keyword:  Sima XiangruLi YuanFu of the Bridge Inscription;
Abstract: Li Yuan’s Fu of the Bridge Inscription was written in response to the imperial examination in the fifth year of the Dahe Era under the reign of Emperor Wen of the Tang. Adopting Sima Xiangru’s story of the bridge inscription as its subject, this fu artfully shows a significance of "admiring the former worthies and inspiring the later admirers". Echoing across centuries, Sima Xiangru and Li Yuan become models of the Shu people who achieved success out of their hometown. Their characters and their deeds, as well as their spirit of striving for ideals have left us a profound edification.
