Abstract: Objective:To explore the chemical constituents of the root of Foeniculum vulgare. Methods:Compounds were separated and purified by silica gel column chromatography and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical evidences. Results:Five compounds were obtained from ethyl acetate fraction of the extract root of F. vulgare and were identified as dillapiol(1),butyl isobutyl phthalate(2),β-sitosterol(3),linoleic acid(4),and trilinolein(5). Conclusion:This research provides basic understanding about the medicinal values of F. vulgare root.
