Abstract: To study the diffusion and solubility characteristics of acid in transformer oil-paper insulation, acetic acid and stearic acid were added into the transformer oil to the acid value reach 0.4 mgKOH/g in oil. Under condition of 80℃ and 110℃ and the initial moisture content is 0.5% and 3.2% respectively in the insulation paper, the time to reach equilibrium of acid in oil-paper insulation and the acid value in oil were tested, and the distribution mechanism of acid in oil-paper insulation was analyzed by molec-ular simulation. The results show that the diffusion rate of acetie acid is fast, and acetie acid can be eas-ily absorbed by insulation paper. The diffusion rate of stearic acid is slow, and stearic acid can be easi-ly absorbed by transformer oil. The effect of temperature on the distribution of acid in oil-paper insula-tion is very small, and acetic acid will affect the distribution of water between oil and paper, but stearic acid has nothing the effect.
