Abstract: Objective To explore the distribution of Ala746Thr ATP13A2 gene polymorphism in Xinjiang Uygur and Han People, and its association with Parkinson' s disease (PD).Methods A casecontrol study with polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method was performed on 439 cases of PD and 390 age-,sex-and national-matched healthy controls for ATP13A2 gene polymorphism analysis. Results The frequencies of Ala746Thr genotype and allele between PD and control groups in Uygur and Han people showed no significant difference (for genotype,x2 =0.91,P > 0.05 ; for allele,x2 =0.91,P > 0.05).Sratified analysis showed that no differences in allele and genotype frequencies of Ala746Thr genotype between PD and control groups among the age, gender or race (P >0.05).Conclusion The polymorphism of ATP13A2 gene Ala746Thr may have nothing to do with the occurrence of PD in Uygur and Han people of Xinjiang.
