Effects of Thermo-mechanical Heat Treatment Processing on Microstructures and Properties of Y2O3/Al2O3/Cu Composite

Abstract: The effects of thermo-mechanical heat treatment processing on microstructures and properties of the 0.3%Y2O3/0.3%Al2O3/Cu composite were studied. The composite was cold worked, followed by annealing treatments. Results show that as the cold drawing deformation increases, the equiaxed grains is elongated gradually along the direction of the deformation, the tensile strength of the material increases, and the electrical conductivity decreases. When the deformation rises to 70%, the tensile strength reaches a peak, after that the deformation softening begins. With the increase of annealing temperature, the conductivity increases, the micro-hardness decreases and the equiaxed grains rebuild. After the annealing treatment, the properties of the material improve. The fracture morphology shows large and deep dimples and tear ridges.
