Abstract:  The Huzhou area is situated on the Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou plain with good prerequisites of geothermal resource exploita-tion. According to previous geological exploration data, since the thick upper part Cretaceous and Jurassic strata cause insufficient deep part drilling control extent, and impact geothermal resource exploitation and utilization in the area. Based on stratigraphic, aqui-fer, especially faulted structural analysis in the area, carried out geothermal reservoir characteristic study and pointed out that the heat source in the area is from regional terrestrial heat flow. The overburden is continuously distributed Jurassic and Cretaceous strata and less impact from faulted structures. Geothermal reservoirs have Permian Changxing Formation, Qixia Formation, Carboniferous Chuan-shan Formation, Huanglong Formation mainly limestone constitutive limestone geothermal reservoirs and Devonian Wutong Formation, Silurian Maokou Formation sandstone constitutive sandstone geothermal reservoirs; thermal channels have discordogenic faults and their secondary structures, there out regional geothermal model. Based on geothermal occurrence and overburden conditions, combined with present geothermal exploitation status, divided Huzhou area into 4 geothermal subareas, and considered that the subarea III has best exploitation condition, thus the preferred region, mainly to control the layered geothermal reservoirs (Permo-Carboniferous lime-stone); subarea II is the second; subarea I has developed faults, lack of effective overburden, if need to exploit geothermal resource, should to find out deep convection type geothermal reservoir (i.e. discordogenic fault) mainly;subarea IV because of thick overburden, thus unidentified geological condition, if need to exploit geothermal resource at present, should be careful. The study is of far reaching importance to guide next stage regional geothermal exploration.
