Discussion on Faulted Zone Structural Development Characteristics under Diverse Stresses

Abstract:  The internal structure of brittle faulted zone mainly includes fracture zone and induced fissure zone two parts. Factors of fault character, mobility, buried depth, two walls (active and passive), rock mechanical property, distance to fault and combination pattern etc. can all impact faulted zone internal structural development. The paper has mainly discussed faulted zone internal structural develop-ment characteristics under diverse stresses. The study has figured out that fracture zone formed by normal faults has smaller extent with irregular fracture modality;tension and shear fissures have developed in induced fissure zone. Fracture zone formed by reversed faults has larger extent. Induced fissure zone is mainly composed of tension and shear fissures. While fracture zone formed by strike-slip faults has rather stable extension.
