Abstract: China′s power grid is developing into AC-DC hybrid power operation phase with the world′s highest voltage level and largest scale,so it is necessary to enhance the analytical study on the impact of geomagnetic storm on the grid safety and the countermeasures.This paper analyzes the impact pathways and the related fault types of power grid.Then in accordance to Regulations for Meteorological Disaster Prevention,the first general law for meteorological disaster prevention in China,a blackout defence scheme against extreme space and meteorological disasters is proposed by correlating the response characteristics of the power system and equipment under geomagnetic storm and the disaster-causing mechanism with space weather information.
