Abstract: Based on the perspective of economic geography,the extended motivation of Wan li tea road of Shanxi merchants in Ming and Qing dynasties was studied and analyzed from four aspects,which included the imbalanced facility of population and lands,the gradient of towns and market,the fluctuation and change of policy and political circumstances,the complementarity of interregional industry and capital.The study concluded that Wan li tea road was an intensive economic axial belt integrating factors of production,such as information,capital,industry and technology,and it was also a cross-regional product created by both the ruling inner motivation from Shanxi merchants and the catalytic external motivation.
