Abstract: Five anopheline species belonging to Anopheles maculatus group have been found in Yunnan province: Anopheles maculatus, Theobald, 1901; Anopheles pseudowillmori, Theobald, 1910; Anopheles willmori, James, 1903; Anopheles dravidicus, Anopheles sawadwongporini, Rattanarithikul and Green, 1986. The population of this group takes a 42.68% share of the whole anopheline population in the mountain areas. There are some differeces on geographical distribution and ecological habits among the five species. Based on an analysis concerning the five species on their size of population, geographical distrbution, human blood index and sensitbility to P. vivax, the authors suggested that An. pseudowillmori and An. maculatus might be more important in malaria transmission.
