Abstract: In this paper, a 397bp SSUrDNA fragment of Leishmania from cutaneous Lesions of 12 parasitologically confirmed patients were directly amplified with primers R222 and R333. Dot hybridization and Southern hybridization were performed with digoxigenin labelled L.tropica SSUrDNA probe. Strong hybridization was found to occur only in CL-PCR-AP and positive controls, other Leishmania species (L. turanica KXG-2,L.infantum )showed absence of any signal. Our results confirmed that homologous sequence exists in SSUrDNA of L.tropica and that of species causing CL in Xinjiang, China.
