Abstract: In this experiment, BALB/c mice were immunized with P.yoelii soluble antigen pius adjuvant, while mice pretreated with adjuvant only and native mice were used as controls, to investigate the protectivity against P.y infection. At the same time, the levels of induced IFN-γ by ConA obtained from spleen cells were examined. Rcsults: 1) Parasitcmis were markcdly low and the durations of acutc malaria were shortened in immunized mice in comparison wity the other two groups. The parasitemia in mice pretreated with adjuvant were lower than native mice, 2). The high peak of IFN-γ activity before parasitemia peak appeared in three groups. Results show: IFN-y (presented prior to the peak of parasitemia) plays a crucial but not only role in decreasing parasitemia.
