Abstract: Alkaloids corydalis B and L,isolated from Corydalis ambigua Cham.et Sch. by Prof.T.Q.Chou,were found,in our previous report,to possess marked analgesic activity. However,their tolerance had not yet been investigated. The tolerance and cross tolerance to corydalis B and L in comparison with morphine are reported in this work.Experiments were made on rats by the thermal stimulation method.At first the subcutaneous dosages producing analgesia of approximately same duration were determined. Then a daily injection was administered to rats at the pre-determined dosages,and the change of pain sense.was measured.The results were as follows: (1)Tolerance of rats to analgesic action of corydalis B(50 mg/kg)or corydalis L(40 mg/kg)appeared after 11—13 days,and to that of morphine(3—3.5 mg/kg)after 6—8 days. (2)The phenomenon of cross tolerance between corydalis B,L and morphine had been observed in our experiment.
