Abstract: A new method for the simultaneous determination of five resin acid isomers in disproportionated rosin is investigated by derivative spectrophometry. The main component dehydroabietic acid and little component abietic acid, neoabietic acid, levopimaric acid and pulustic acid of a few types disproportionated rosin were determinated quantitatively by selecting the proper order(n) of derivative, differential wavelength difference, scanning rate and quantitative method.
The method operates simply with high sensitivity. The background interference of isomers in resin is completely eliminated. The relative standard deviation is below 0.02% and average recovery rate 99.0%.
