Abstract: The central mechanism of gastric acid secretion induced by intracerebro-ven-tricular(icv)injection of caerulein was studied by the effect of similarly applied va-rious receptor antagonists 20 min prior to caerulein.Techniques of continuousgastric perfusion of Ghosh and Schild and cerebral cannula implantation were usedfor acute experiments in rats.Pcrfusates collected every 10 min were titrated toquantify the total acid output.Icv injection of caerulein significantly stimulated gastric acid secretion.Prioricv administration of phentolamine or propranolol did not influence the effect ofcaerulein,but the acid output induced by caerulein was completely abolished aftera prior injection of atropine or dibutyryl cGMP(CCK-receptor antagonist).It seems that CCK receptor and cholinergic receptor in brain are involved inthe mechanisms of gastric acid secretion induced by caerulein.
