Abstract: The present work deals with the relations between relative humidity and some life processes of the armyworm Leucania separata Walker, including the development and survival of the immature stages and the survival and reproducton of the adults. The comparison and statistical analysis of data from laboratory experiments and field investigations show that relative humidity or rainfall combined with the initial numbers of moths can be used to predict the general trends of population dynamics of the armyworm in a definite geographical region. Based on the data of the first generation armyworms in areas from the Yellow River to the Huai River regression formulae are proposed for the prognosis of the population dynamics of the armyworm in the regions of Fuyang, Xuchang, Xuzhou and Jining.
