Abstract: The present paper deals with a new species of the family Pilistatidae from China. The diagnosis of the new species is given below:Pritha beijingensis sp. nov. (figs. 1-5)Holotypes: ♂; allotype: ♀; paratypes: 12♀♀; collected by the author from Summer Palace, Beijing, Sept. 17, 1983.Male : Total length 3.17 mm. Cephalothorax nearly pear-shaped. Carapace yellow orange with black margin and a dark upside-down triangular patch on the centre of carapace. AL PL PM AM. Sternum oval. Femur and metatarsus of the legs 1 and 2 with spines. Cymbium ofpalpal organ horseshoe-shaped.Females: Total length 3.33-3.57mm. Legs shorter than those of the male. Cala-mistrum composed of three rows of coarse hairs, about 7-9 hairs in each row. Cala-mistrum short, about one sixth of the total length of me the fourth metatarsus. Shape of abdomen like that of the male. Dorsum of abdomen clothed with long black hairs, with about 5 yellow chevron markings.This species resembles Pritha napadensis (Patel) (1975: 425-427, fig. 2), but differs from the latter as follows : (1). Carapace yellow orange in colour with dark margin; (2) Dorsum with chevron markings; (3) First leg 1.3-1.4 times as long as the body, while in P. napadensis leg I twice as long as the body; (4) Legs formula,1, 4, 2, 3, whereas the latter being 1, 2, 4, 3.
