Abstract: The new pileless multi- wellhead platform studied and developed by BEDC is composed of four columns of large diameter and the truss connected to the columns . The installation of this kind of platform, its foundation setting through guiding water flow,is different from that of the common ones in that it is towed to the construction site with inflation and self-buoying , whose foundation can fall by itself to the designated depth below the silt. A series of model tests have been made in various sea conditions in the Research Centre of Ship Science of China, and show that this kind of platform is of good properties,constructed with less quantity of steel ,installed faster,and can save a part of the engineering cost.
