Abstract: The tectonic movement of Jiyang Sub-basin in Early Tertiary is mainly characte ri zed by faulting-depressing. The depositional system,which were dominated by p rox imal gravity flow,is developed along the steep slope of Jiyang Sub-basin, and i t's de velopment and distribution are controlled by the types of steep slopes. In this p aper, based on the depositional characteristics, depositional models of steep slope sedimentation are concluded as 3 types-steep slope on th e depositional eroded fault,slope model interim steep slope and continuous steep slope. The common depositional characteristics on steep slopes are that the near s hore subaqueous fan is widely developed and it's developed degree has close rela tion to the fault throw and active time. The depositional types on steep slope s are controlled by the activities and developing characteristics of faults, and different depositional types have developed in different deposition systems and vertical evolution successions. The evolution law of deposition on steep slope is that: alluvial fan→fan-delta→delta, nearshore subaqueous fan→sublacustrine fan.
