Clinical significance of QT interval in patients with chronic congestive heart failure

Abstract: Objective : To investigate the association between QT interval dispertion (QTd) and cardiac sudden death (SCD) in patients with chronic congestive heart failure (CHF). Methods : QTd and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were measured in 34 patients with CHF, and all patients were followed up with 36 months. Results:QTd in the SCD group was remarkably increased than the survival group and the group patients die from heart failure, QTd and LVEF had a negative relationship. Conclusion: QTd is an independent risk factor for SCD and ventricular tachycardia in patients with CHF.
