An Experimental Study on the Treatment of Waste Drilling Fulid by Solid-Liquid Separation

Abstract: The environmental pollution caused by waste drilling fluid is a problem hard to be solved. According to geological condition of Tarim oilfield, some samples of waste drilling fluid have been studied by the method of solid-liquid separation. The process flow of two-step treatment has been adopted for solid-liquid separation. First step separation by the method of preliminary flocculation and reinforced centrifugence will be used to eliminate most of solid, after waste liquid is processed by the method of second step flocculation treatment, it will satisfy the exhaust demand. Experiment show that the method of solid-liquid separation can separate waste drilling fluid into two phase, solid and liquid phase, with its liquid satisfying exhaust demand and significant reduction of environmental pollution or even no pollution caused by solid residue. If combining the method with others, like the method of sealing it in the pit and solidification, better environmental protection result will be achieved.
