X-ray Irradiation Induced Peak Shift of Cu 2p3/2 Photoelectron Emission and Intra-molecule Charge Transfer in Copper Phthalocyanine

Abstract: Intra-molecule charge transfer is studied by changing the X-ray power during X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy experiment.We found that by increasing the power of the X-ray source,the photoemission peak of Cu 2p3/2shows a positive shift towards higher binding energy.We,therefore,concluded that when irradiated by X-ray,negative charge(electron clouds)moves from the central copper atom towards other parts of the molecule.This phenomenon is useful in explaining the charge transfer mechanism and the photo-conductivity of metallo phthalocyanine.
