Abstract: A new wax-oil-polyethylene binder was developed for Fe-2Ni injection molding. The wax and polyethylene components were chosen. The influence of oil addition on some properties of the binder, including compatiability of ingredients, strength of as-molded parts, powder loading, heat capacity of the feedstock, solvent debinding rate, were investigated. It was shown that wax-oil-polyethylene binder was not a thermodynamic compatible system. The addition of oil decreased the mixing torque, the maximum powder loading and the strength of as-molded parts. At the same time, the addition of oil decreased injection defects and increased the solvent debinding rate. As the new binder mixed with Fe-2Nipowder, the powder loading could reach 60% (volume fraction), the strength of as-molded parts is 5.5 MPa, and the solvent debinding rate is over 2 mm/h.
