Abstract: An experimental apparatus for measuring the effective thermal conductivity ofthe body surface has been built. The following tests have been completed todemonstrate the apparatus validity. Firstly, as the standard specimen, glycerine (AR) and fused quartz glass (99.9% SiO2) were respectivelymeasured, and the relative errors compared with TPRC recommended date are lessthan 0.7%. Secondly, as a base of the apparatus, the validity of Takegoshitheory model was confirmed using the experimental method for inorganicspecimens. Lastly, for the biological bodies characterized by metabolic heatgeneration and unchanged body temperature, some prerequisites for theapplication of the technique to measuring their thermal conductivity werediscussed
