Abstract: The Three Gorges Project (TGP) is the largest concrete structure in the world to this day. The project, with a total amount of approximately 28 million m 3 of concrete, is characterized by complicated structures, intensive construction and high technical standards, which should not only meet the requirements of stability but of special flood releasing, power generation and navigation improvement. Through a decade of engineering practice, a management mode that embodies the characteristics of TGP under construction has been formed. Various new techniques and technologies have been used to ensure the concrete quality. Design, construction and management measures adopted for the concrete works of the project are discussed in this article on an overall basis.
