Abstract: Objective:To compare with the effect of strengthening the kidney and spleen and pronoting blood circulation recipe(SPR)and tonifying kidney and promoting blood circulation recipe(TPR)resisting bone loss of old rat.Methods: A model of osteoporosis was established by injecting the male and female rats at age of 15 months with dexamethasong.40 rats were divided into 4 groups:normal control group,model group,TPR group and SPR group.Bone mineral density(BMD) was measured by draining aceton method.The content of serum alkaline phosphatase(AKP),fasting urinary caleium(U-Ca) and hydroxyproline(U-HOP) were measured by colorimetric method.Serum Bone Gla Proin (BGP)was measured by radioimmunoassay.Results: The BMD,serum AKP,BGP,and U-HOP in model group are lower than lhose in nomal control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The BMD of TRR group and SPR group is higher than that of model group(P<0.01),The BMD SPR growp is luight than that of TPR group(P<0.05).The serum AKP,BGP and U-HOP in SPR group are higher than those in model group(P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of SPR resisting bone loss of old rat is higher than that of TPR.SPR Can enhance both the bone formation and the bone absorption.The function that SPR enhances the bone formation is better than the function that SPR enhances the bone absorption.
