Abstract: Objective:Effects of soil drought stress on physiological characteristics and photosynthetic characteristics of Salvia sclarea L. leaves were studied by the test of Salvia sclarea L. Methods:Salvia sclarea L. was divided into experimental groups and control groups. On the following five days, proline, malondialdehyde and chlorophyll content was measured per day, respectively. Meanwhile, changes of transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, net photosynthetic rate and intercellular CO2 concentration were detected respectively. Results:With the increase in drought stress, proline content of Salvia sclarea L. leaves increased and showed a positive relationship with drought treatment time. The MDA content change of leaves was not obvious. With drought treatment, chlorophyll content of leaves increased gradually, up to maximum on the fourth day, and inhibited later. The diurnal curves of transpiration rate were double-peak types, and transpiration rate decreased significantly with the prolonged time of drought. But stomatal conductance curves of Salvia sclarea L. leaves were the single-peak types. With the increase of drought stress, stomatal conductance decreased obviously, and stomatal conductance and intercellular CO2 concentration was negative correlated. And the net photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance curve was approximately consistent. Conclusions:The physiological characteristics and photosynthetic characteristics of Salvia sclarea L. exhibited certain adaptability to drought stresses except severe stress.
