Abstract: The study was to observe the effects of Bushen Compound Instant Granules (BCIG) on the bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells (BMHPC) in the patients with aplastic anemia of the kidney yang deficiency type. 30 Cases were treated with BCIG, 15 cases with Compound Zaofan Pills (CZP), and 15 cases with stanozolol; the changes in the levels of BMHPC in the 3 groups were observed before and after the treatment by the methyl cellulose culture method, with a control group consisting of 15 healthy human subjects. The results showed that the clinical effective rate of the BCIG group was 80%, obviously higher than those of the CZP group (40%) and stanozolol group (46.67%); the recovery of the levels of bone marrow BFU E and CFU GM in the effective cases in the BCIG group was more obvious than that in the effective cases in the CZP group and stanozolol group; and there were no obvious changes in the levels of bone marrow BFU E and CFU GM in the ineffective cases in all the 3 groups. It could be seen from the results that the effective rate of BCIG in treating aplastic anemia of the kidney yang deficiency type was higher than those of CZP and stanozolol, and the hematological recovery of the patients responding to BCIG was more complete.
