Abstract: The deep overburden layer which was formed in late period of late Pleistocene and Holocene of Quaternary distributes in the dam site of Tacheng hydropower station.The thickness of the layer is from 27 meters to 106 meters,and its formations have many causes such as alluvium,debris flow and barrier lake.The overburden layer is thin in both sides of the hill and thick in middle.The distribution of the rock and soil is continuous along river and discontinuous in the vertical direction.
