Abstract: Leukemia stem cells (LSCs) may originate from a rare population of mutant normal hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).Besides sharing the same cell immunophenotypes of CD34+,CD38- and HLA-DR- as normal HSCs,KSCs display certain leukemia-specific features such as CD90-,CD117- and CD123+,constitutive activation of nuclear factor-_KB (NF-_KB ) as well as more sensitivity to heat, higher ability of self-renewal and proliferation than normal HSCs.The aberrant activation of NF-_KB,the signal transduetion of IL-3 receptor and PI3 kinase may be not only responsible for the regulation of the growth and survival of LSCs,but also play very important roles in the genesis and development of leukemi- a.
